The LEGO Group officially unveiled the LEGO Icons The Lord of the Rings: Minas Tirith (11377), a massive 8,278-piece build celebrating 25 years of The Lord of the Rings films. As we reported last month, this long-awaited set recreates Gondor’s White City as Tolkien envisioned it: seven levels of white stone rising to the Citadel and the White Tower of Ecthelion, its battlements pointing east toward Mordor like “the prow of a ship.”
The set employs a hybrid-scale design: the exterior is rendered in microscale, capturing the sweeping skyline and defensive walls, while key interior spaces—including the throne room of the Citadel—are built at minifigure scale. This approach lets builders admire the fortress from afar and explore pivotal story moments up close.
The minifigure lineup is notable. Ten characters populate the set: Gandalf the White, Faramir, Denethor, Peregrin Took, Aragorn as King Elessar, Arwen, and four Soldiers of Gondor, plus the legendary steed Shadowfax. Aragorn and Arwen in their coronation forms are particularly welcome additions—these post-Return of the King minifigures were never part of the original 2012 LEGO Lord of the Rings line.
The set arrives June 4, 2026 (£579.99), with LEGO Insiders Early Access beginning June 1. Here’s the hook for early buyers: from June 1–7 only, purchasers receive Grond (40893) as a gift with purchase while stocks last. The thematic pairing is lore-perfect. Grond the battering ram—named after Morgoth’s legendary mace “in memory of the Hammer of the Underworld of old”—broke the Great Gate of Minas Tirith during the Battle of the Pelennor Fields. Having both the gate and the weapon that shattered it in the same collection is a collector’s dream.
LEGO Insiders members can also enter a sweepstake (running through June 30) for a chance to win an all-inclusive trip to the Hobbiton Movie Set in New Zealand, along with the full LEGO Icons Lord of the Rings product collection.
