When Orc’s Attack!

by Nov 5, 2003Stories

Locira was running through the woods, she didn’t know where she was or what she was doing there. Behind her she heard sounds, she sensed something very evil was chasing her.
“Faster!” she told herself as she weaved through the trees and jumped over stumps, in her haste she fell over a large branch that was half hidden under leaves. Beads of sweat ran down her face as she picked herself up and continued to run.
She had never been so scared before! “There catching up!”she cried out she could feel their breath upon her.
“NOOOO!!” she screamed then……

Locira suddenly bolted upright in her bed, with a terrified scream gasping for breath. After composing herself she said “That was by far the scariest dream I’ve ever had!”
“I’ve got to stop reading The Lord Of The Rings before going to sleep!”
She threw the covers off herself to get up, when she realized this wasn’t her room, it was much bigger and darker with stone walls that had candles suspended from them. “Am I hallucinating?” she asked while rubbing her eyes and blinking.

“I wonder what time it is?” she said as she looked for her clock, but it and her lamp were gone. In it’s place sat a small candlestick with a candle still burning in it and a goblet, both were made of silver and etched in elvish.
“This is all a figment of my vivid imagination, I’m going to shut my eyes and count to three and when I open them I will be back home” she hoped anyway.
Then Locira closed her eyes taking in a deep breath, she then exhaled while counting to three and opened them nervously, only to find she was still there.
“This is going to be a looong night” she sighed. “I don’t think I’m going to get back to sleep anytime soon, so I might as well check out this room” she said, as she reached for the candle and held it up so she could get a better look at her surroundings.
Locira noticed that the headboard and table were carved with leaves and vines, “This must have been done by a master craftsman” she thought as she ran her fingers across them.

The bed was draped with simple bed linens and pillows of mauve and blue. As she continued to look around the room she noticed a large fireplace to the left of the bed, the last of a fire still flickering in the hearth.
A large painting of a vase with roses hung over the fireplace, it was illuminated by the rays of the moon, that were shining through the double doors from the other side of the room.
The rays that washed over the painting were so enchanting that they beckoned to her for a closer look, so she walked out onto the balcony, where the moon and the stars lit up the sky for miles.
As she stood there spellbound, she revisted her childhood when her sister and her would lay on the grass and gaze at the stars and moon for hours.

But the beauty of the scene was overshadowed when she glanced to the East seeing a ominous sight. The sky to the horizon glowed menacingly like it was on fire.
“What evil could be going on in the distance?” she mumbled, it gave her a sickening feeling as she hugged herself.
The sight brought her back to the reality that she still didn’t know where she was.
As she turned to go back into the room she heard something that sent her heart racing, something vaguely familiar but she didn’t know why.
“Where have I heard that sound before?” she asked, it made her body shudder. She turned back to the balcony pausing, there it was again it sounded like men only more sinister.
The sounds and the feeling it gave her reminded her of her dream, “Oh no my nightmare has come true!” she exclaimed “They’ve found me!!!!”
