Elenya and Legolas woke up to the sun smiling its rays down at them. Legolas looked at the girl he loved whose head still rested on his shoulder. He rustled her hair until she stirred.

“Is it already morning?” she asked.

He nodded. She yawned and stretched.

“You slept well my sleeping beauty?” he asked her smiling.

“I didn’t want to wake up. I was having a beautiful dream.”

“Was I in it?”

“Of course,” she smiled. “We were swimming in a spring. It was beautiful.”

“So you said. It is time. The castle is no more than a day away. We shall arrive tomorrow.”

“Sometimes I wish we didn’t have to do this. I wish we could just fly away and be together forever no interruptions.”

“As do I. But this is meant to be a test. A test of our loyalty to each other as well as to Middle Earth. It is our quest.”

“Do you think it shall be our last?”

“No. Our adventures shall never end.”

She pondered his words for a moment and then asked the question she had been wanting to ask for awile.

“What is the plan?”

“I don’t know.”

“You don’t have a plan?”

“Do you?”

“I’ve been thinking that I should be the one to go in.”

“No Elenya. I don’t want things to get complicated if both of us show up. Two are easier to track down I know. But I will not allow you to go in by yourself. If you were caught I would never forgive myself. I have known the Prince before and what he has done.”

“What has he done?”

“Pray you never find out what he has done to women in his grasp.”

“But I-“

“I know you are different from other girls. But I still fear for you. I shall go in. And if I can get to her, she’ll be more likely to trust one of her own. For she has seen me before. She knows me well.”

“Yes,” he paused. “Do you have a better one?”

“Seems solid enough to me,” she said. He smiled placing a tender kiss upon her lips.

She stood up and went to Celeniel resting her head against the mare’s chest.

“What is it?”

“I don’t know. I have been feeling different. The closer I am to the castle, the weaker I feel. I don’t know.”

“I have sensed it. Eru has granted me no dreams yet. But he said we would have a test. I do not know what.”

She didn’t want to talk about it anymore. She simply wanted to get in there, resuce the Princess, stop the Prince, and go home happy.

“The day is young. Let’s go.”

“Your wish is my command.”

She grinned. “It was only that easy.”

It was not long before they saw the tall towers of the Prince’s castle. It was well after dark. Elenya felt cold even though her cloak covered her warmly. She un-mounted the horse staring up at its walls.

“What an awful place for her to be in,” Elenya thought for she hated walls. She hated cages. Elenya was a wild thing. Very independent.

“It shouldn’t be too hard for you to find her.” Elenya told Legolas.

“I may run into some difficulties.”

“Hey, nothing you can’t handle. You know how to kill.”

“Yes I do.”

“Promise me you will return,” she pleaded.

“I can’t make promises I can’t keep. But I will do my best.”

She frowned. Concern was in her eyes. She loved her so much, and she feared for him. She walked to his side and fell into his arms.

“I love you.”

“And I you. I”ll be fine.”

She withdrew. He turned and began walking toward the wall when she stopped him grabbing him by the sleeve.

“No farewell kiss?” she asked.

He smiled. The next thing she knew, he had pulled her into his arms and placed one last searing kiss upon her lips leaving her stunned for the moment. It was brief but it felt amazing to Elenya.

“Cormamin niuve tenna’ ta elea lle au'”

She smiled not understanding what he said but knowing it was something wonderful.

“What does that mean?”

“My heart shall weep till it sees thee again.”

She watched him as he quickly climbed over the wall and onto the other side. A tear rolled down her cheek.

“Tenna’ ento lye omenta,” she whispered holding him in her heart. Until next we meet

Legolas climbed over the wall into the shadows. He knew where the Princess would be. He could sense her. He knew Aragorns daughter. He entered the courtyard of the palace. He could sense presences around him and knew the place was well guarded. He ducked into the shadows seeing a guard walk by him. He didn’t want to fire yet, but he held his arrows loosely in his bow. He did not want to announce himself yet. He walked up the stairs making no sound whatsoever. He turned to the left where a number of doors were. He went to the very last one. Two guards lay sleeping beside it. It was the Princesse’s. But the Prince did a lousy job of protecting her or did he? As Legolas approached the door, strong hands suddenly grabbed him from behind. His bow was knocked from his hand. He turned and only came as far as the giant’s chest. He looked up. Dario stared down at him a wide grin upon his face. Legolas took out his knife quickly and smote the man upon the cheek drawing blood.

“Bring your pretty face here!” the man shouted grabbing Legolas by his shirt.

Legolas slashed once more with his elven blade, but Dario was prepared. He took the elf’s throat in his hand and squeezed. Legolas dropped the blade. Dario woke the other two guards with a shout. They at once seized the struggling elf. His hands were bound. Dario stared down at him.

“Let’s see now what the Prince thinks of your pretty face.”
