When he had gone, she pulled at the iron bars with all her might. There was no escape. She knew it. A cold breeze swept through the room. She shivered and ran her hands up and down her bare arms. A long silver dress was folded on the bed for her.

“Might as well take the advantage.”

It seemed as though the room had been picked out exactly for her as well as the dress. She changed, washed her face, and combed her hair. She looked like a star. She opened the door. Two guards including Dario stood there. He faced her.

“Let me pass! I’m going to the library.”

“Don’t even think about escaping, Princess. There are eyes everywhere.”

He directed her to the library, which rested near the garden. She sat in the library reading the tale of Beren and Luthien. She wondered how so foul a Prince could have so large a library. The Prince was very fond of reading actually. He thought it improved his kingdom. He watched her from a distance as she walked into the midst of the garden staring at the flowers. He approached her slowly from behind. She felt his presence and turned swiftly to face him. He lifted up a flower to her face. She breathed in the scent. He was so handsome, which made it difficult. I cant be attracted to an abductor tyrant. He took one of her hands and brought it to his lips.

“Princess,” he said barely above a whisper. “You are the most beautiful flower in this garden.”

“There’s one key difference between the flowers and myself. A rose will prick you, but I will do far worse.”

He smiled in spite of that. He inched toward her face. She tried to turn away, but he lifted her chin to his face. Slowly he placed a passionate kiss upon her lips. He wrapped his arms around her waist and drew her closer to him. He continued to kiss her though he felt her wanting to resist. He finally parted lips.

“Goodnight Princess.” He turned away.

“How dare you!”

He turned and met her eyes.

“When my father realizes-“

He cut her off. “I doubt your father shall be able to do anything Princess. Goodnight.”

Elenya and Legolas continued on through the woods riding swiftly. The rain drops were beginning to pour but they did not wish to stop for they had just set out at dawn and it was only evening. It would be another two days before they could reach the castle. Elenya rode on Celeniel glad to have her old friend again for she was swift and careful. Legolas rode on his favorite steed Arod a shining white jewel in the darkening rain. The rain fell in sheets soaking her through. She drew her cloak tighter around herself trying to keep warm. Her horse was beginning to tire as was Arod.

“We need to find shelter!” Legolas spoke through the rain.

Elenya pointed just ahead of them. It seemed like magic when you merely speak something and it appears in front of you. The cave was dark but dry. They ushered the horses in as a crash of thunder was heard. Elenya sat down on a rock and threw back her hood. She ran her fingers through her hair knowing it would later on be curly because of the rain. She loved the fact that her hair was naturally curly when it became wet. Legolas quickly built a fire. She fished into her pack and took out a blanket and shivered. She smiled as Legolas sat down opposite of her. She spoke.

“I heard once in a story as a scientific fact that one quakaiudle in a blanket froze during the night. But to quakaiudles in a blanket stayed warmer.”

She laughed at the saying she had heard from a movie. She had wondered throughout the rest of it what a quakaiudle was. But Legolas received the message. She knew he was intelligent even if he was pretty though if she spoke that he would have her head. Legolas sat on the rock beside her and climbed into the blanket. She pulled it closer to her.

“You’re hogging it all,” she objected.

“I am not lady.”

“You are too! You have like all of it.”

“Oh!” he exclaimed exasperated and fished into his pack for another one, which he wrapped around the both of them.

“Thank you,” she said growing warmer.

He brushed a hand across her cheek and felt her dripping dark hair.

“You’re so beautiful even if you’re wet,” he smiled.

“I’ll take that as a compliment. I’m sorry I have none to give you right now. I think you look better when you’re dry. But then again you look pretty all the time.”

She let out a giggle.

“Say that one more time and you will not wake up the following morning.”

“I’m so scared,” she said sarcastically. “Remember, no couple can ever make it if they dont argue and have a little fun.”

“But we aren’t arguing.”

“Do we ever?”

“Aye when you did not want to express your love openly to me. You were fearful.”

“I was, but no longer.”

She looked into his blue eyes and he looked into her dark ones. It seemed they had known each other for so long not merely a few months in their time. But it seemed they had known each other for all eternity. The storm raged on outside, but the fire danced making shadows on the walls. Elenya grew drowsy and her eyes closed. Legolas pulled her closer not wanting her to go. She laid her head upon his shoulder and quickly fell asleep. He smiled and listened to her steady breathing. He was troubled. He wondered if she could face the test. They would be separated soon he knew, and he clung to her wishing this moment could last forever. Would she remain true to him? His Elenya? She had said yes to Agroth for his sake? Would she do the same for a handsome Easterling Prince? He knew the Prince was elven. It was a secret long kept. The Prince had once come from Mirkwood. Legolas had known him. They had been friends. But when the Prince’s parents were killed by the Enemy, he had gone to take revenge. It had hardened him. Instead, he was drawn into the Enemy and alligned himself with the Easterlings. He was the deadliest with the bow one of the few of the Easterlings who could weild one. He was a skilled fighter and his wrath was known far and wide. He soon became a hero among the Easterlings and grew to be their most honoured leader. Now he was determined to have everthing even the Princess. But Legolas knew that the Prince did not desire her truly. She was a means to an end. That end being Aragorns kingdom and all Middle Earth with it. But what of Elenya? Would she be a means to an end?
