Secret’s Untold

Anyaelia’s dress swirled around her wildly as she danced happily along to her song. Her voice grew louder as she sang of Elbereth Gilthoniel that she was taught when she was just a child.

Snow-White! Snow-White! O Lady clear!
O Queen beyond the Western Seas!
O Light to me that wander here
Amid the world of woven trees!

Githoniel! O Elbereth!
Clear are thy eyes and bright thy breath!
Snow-White! Snow-White! I sing to thee
In a far land beyond the Sea

O stars that in the Sunless Year
With shining hand by her were sown,
In windy fields now bright and clear
I see your silver blossom blow!

O Elbereth Gilthoniel!
I still remember, I who dwell
In this far land beneath the trees,
Thy starlight on the Western Seas.

Exhausted Anyaelia fell to the ground. She sat listening to the laughter and merriment that floated from the Hall of Fire. She was isolated, alone in her thoughts. A shape moved out of the shadows and started towards her. Anyaelia looked up as the shape approached, she recognised him and her face flushed in anger.

“You! Why do you follow me? I came here to be alone, not to be stared at, especially through the feast.”

She stood up as Legolas’s face blushed in embarrassment.

“I am sorry, I did not mean to disturb you. I shall leave you to your thoughts.”

He turned to go but Anyaelia stopped him for guilt grew in her conscience.

“No, you have no need to leave. Pardon me for my sharp tongue, for you startled me. But if I may, there is something that I need to ask you.”

“What is troubling you?”

“Were you true to your word of what you stated earlier to me? If you remember.”

“Aye, you have taken my heart with you.”

“But why? How? You mistook me for a lowly stable-maid before, then you say that you love me, though you barely know me!”

Anyaelia grew frustrated, tears welling in her eyes. Legolas took her face into his hands and stared into her eyes, he leaned down to kiss her. This time Anyaelia did not pull away, but kissed back. Her angriness melted away as he stepped back from her.

“I cannot help for falling for you Anyaelia. I have never met an Elf as passionate as you are.”

Tears streamed down Anyaelia’s face, she wanted to tell him her fears of submitting to him, and she did not want her past to repeat itself.

“I need to tell you something, for if I do not it will eat away at me. I have been grieving from the loss I have suffered. For my beloved has departed from me and I shall never see him again. He was murdered a few months before by a band of orcs, travelling back across the Misty Mountains from Lothlorien. He chose that way for he enjoyed the seclusion of crossing the Caradhras, but he was attacked and murdered. We were…together, but not betrothed. Today, when you had told me you loved me, it was too soon.”

She stared at Legolas’s face, waiting for a reaction, but it did not come.

“And I know now I cannot grieve any longer, I know that I shall never see Maersiul again. And I cannot deny what my heart is yearning for, Legolas, I think I am falling for you as well.”

Anyaelia stood waiting for Legolas to speak, but his deep blue eyes were thoughtful.

“Anyaelia, I know that I can never replace Maersiul. But I will love you with all of my heart and soul. Nothing can ever change that.”

“I know, and I shall do the same. Im Melin Le Legolas Greenleaf.”

“Im Melin Le Anyaelia.”

Anyaelia embraced him and they kissed under the departing moonlight, as a new day had become.

Author’s Note: Hey Sorry about this being short as well…the next one will be longer honest!
