“Eärendur, are you all right?” I asked him.
“No, I don’t think so. I’m just so confused. I mean, what if we’re being controlled right now? Is that possible? Or am I just being a paranoid idiot? Argh, I wish this wasn’t so confusing,” he answered with his brow furrowed. He looked so much like a little elf-ling that I smiled. I was much calmer since I got back from my talk with Melian.
“You look so adorable right now. Like a child. I doubt that we are controlled, if we can ask ourselves about it. Stop worrying. I’m sure that Melian has it under control.” Eärendur’s face cleared.
“You’re right I’m sure. I’m just tired. I better get some sleep.” Taking the hint, I got up and started for the door.
“I’ll be in my room, okay? You call me if you need me. Sweet dreams,” I said as I left. I thought for a moment before I started for my door. I really wanted to know what had happened with Calaglin and Lessien. I decided to head for the small dining room. I was rewarded for my curiosity by meeting Calaglin and his new wife on the way there.
“What?” he asked angrily. “Not another message! Who wants us now? Please, not another dense person asking us stupid questions!”
“Are you talking about Lady-” Calaglin didn’t let me finish.
“Of course I’m talking about your ‘lady’! Who else could it be?” he demanded. I just stood there for a moment with my eyes wide. “Aw, shocked to here me talk like this, are you, Alassea? To bad! What did you tell that woman, anyway? She kept asking me about my childhood and idiotic things like that. She did the same to Lessien here. What did you tell her?”
I was so scared. I stared into his sharp blue eyes, and couldn’t see the real Calaglin anywhere. I stood there frozen for a moment, and then ran. I sprinted down the hall and quickly slipped into the dining room. Melian was still there, obviously lost in thought. I spoke quickly.
“Calaglin is so mad, milady. I know it’s not really him. What did you find out?” Melian looked up quickly.
“It is very confusing. Why would he do something like that? And then act the way he does? Oh, there is no reason for it. I’m sorry, Alassea, but I first must figure something out before I can tell you anything. Just wait a little while. I will call you when I figure anything out.” Melian motioned towards the door. “Why don’t you go get some sleep? It would do you some good.”
“Yes, milady. Thank you for helping me.” I did as the Lady suggested. I figured she knew what was best. I didn’t find out what she had learned until a week later. What she told me shocked me.
