Lord of the Rings: Alternative Version – What if they had just flown the Eagles into Mordor? (Part Nine)

The Lady came into view, dressed all in white. She fixed them all with a piercing stare. Aragorn began to move forward, but before he could take two steps, Lady Galadriel spoke. “You need my help.” She nodded. “I know why you are here.”

She moved forward. “Where is Gandalf? I much desire to speak with him.”

Gimli spoke up for the first time since Haldir had appeared. “He fell.”

She raised her eyebrows, turning to look at him, the first look of surprise on her face. “Fell?”

Boromir shrugged. “It’s windy.”

Aragorn glared at him, then as Galadriel looked at him questioningly, he spoke. “He died to save our quest.”

Boromir snorted. “He DIED” he choked out through laughter, “because he could not keep a strong enough hold on his Eagle friend!”

Aragorn drew his sword angrily, but the Lady stepped between them. “See this? Already the power of the Ring has taken effect. Soon, it will put you all on opposite sides of the blade…” She looked around again at them all. “One against the other…”

Something in her voice made Frodo shudder.
