“Lle istui edhellen bre.”-You learned Elvish quick- said Anais, as they walked up the steps.

“Eithel amin quel.”-Well I had a good teacher-

As they entered the Great Hall, they saw Professor McGonagall walking toward them. “In just a moment you will walk through these doors and join your class mates, but first you must be sorted into you houses. There are Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and Slytherin. I’ll come get you when we are ready.” There was a sudden uproar when McGonagall had left.

“Nervous?” asked Draco.

Anais shook her head, “No.” she said nothing until Professor McGonagall reappeared.

“We are ready for you now. Follow me.”

They were lead inside. The tables now were filled with Hogwarts upper classes. Professor McGonagall carried a stool and a very old, patched hat.

She sat the hat on the stool ad suddenly it started to sing:

“Oh, you may not think I’m pretty,
But don’t judge on what you see,
I’ll eat myself if you can find
A smarter hat then me.
You can keep your bowlers black,
Your top hat sleek and tall,
But I am the Hogwarts Sorting Hat
And I can cap them all.
There’s nothing in your head
The Sorting Hat can’t see,
So try me on and I’ll tell you
Where you ought to be.
You might be long in Griffindor,
Where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring nerve and chivalry
Set Griffindors apart.

Yu might belong in Hufflepuff,
Where they are just and loyal,
Those patient Hufflepuffs are true
An unafraid of toil.

Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,
If you’ve really got a mind,
Where those of wit and learning,
Will always find their kind.

Or perhaps in Slytherin,
You’ll make your real friends,
Those cunning folk use any means
To achieve their ends.

So put me on! Don’t be afraid!
And don’t get in a flap!
Your in safe hands (though I have none)
For I am Thinking Cap!”

“Now when call your name, you will sit on the stool. I will place the Sorting Hat on your hat, and you will be sorted into houses.” She unrolled a long piece of parchment, “Hermione Granger.”

Hermione ran up and after a few seconds the hat shouted, “GRIFFINDOR!” She joined the other Griffindors at their table. Next was Ron, who was also put in Griffindor.

“Draco Malfoy.”

Slowly, Draco walked forward. The hat had barely touched his head when it shouted, “SLYTHERIN!” Draco flashed Anais a smile as he joined hi fellow Slytherins.
Harry was next. There was an eerie silence the moment his name was called. He, like his friends, was put into Griffindor.

“Anais Evenstar.”

Making sure that her hair was covering her ears, she walked up. McGonagall place the Sorting hat on her head. At first nothing happened, but then she heard a voice in her head.

“Hmm yes I see. You have two friends in Slytherin. They will always be loyal to you, oh yes, but you don’t belong there no, no, no. I think GRYIFFINDOR!”

Joining the other Griffindors, she looked over at Draco. His smile had faded.

“We’re all in the same house.” said Hermione as she sat next to her.

“Yes, it wonderful.” said Anais feeling a little disappointed that she was away from Draco.

She skimmed across the teachers table and saw Professor Snape, who gave her a slight smile before turning his attention back to the sorting. The Ceremony seem to take forever. When it had finally finished, Professor Dumbledore stood.

“I would like to welcome you all. Before we begin the start of term feast, there are a few notices I would like to say: First, the dark forest is strictly forbidden to all students. Second, Mr. Filch our caretaker, has asked me to remind you that the third floor corridor is off bounds to all. Unless you wish to die a horrific death. Now please, enjoy the feast!” He clapped his hands twice and the plates that has been clean were now loaded with food.

Filling their plates with food, Anais and Hermione talked, “I’ve read all my school book dozens of times already. I hope I won’t forget anything.” said Hermione, stuffing mashed potatoes in her mouth.

“Same here. What class are you looking forward to the most?”

“Transfiguration. I can’t wait to turn things into something else.”

`You’ll start out small. Turning hay into needles and things like that.” said a red headed boy that was sitting on the other sit of Hermione.

“That’s my brother Percy.” mumbled Ron through a mouth full of chicken.

“What about you, Anais,” joined Harry, “what are you looking forward to?”

“Potions. I’ve tried loads of spells on my own, but I don’t trust myself to do potions.”

Ron’s twin brothers, Fred and George, joined in, Fred said, “You’ll think differently once you’ve meet Snape. He’s the meanest teacher here.”

“Yeah,” added George, “Snape hate all the students who aren’t in Slytherin.”

Anais fell quiet. She didn’t like that they were talking bad about Snape. She like him. He had always been hind to her. After everyone had ate and drank their fill. The prefects lead their house to the dormitories.

While everyone else stayed with their house, Draco pushed his way to Anais, “Elenrie, I can’t believe it! They’ve separated us!”

“I’m afraid, Elessar, I don’t know anything of this world.”

“You’ll be find.” he whispered, rubbing her arm.

“Griffindors follow me! Anais, keep up please!” shouted Percy.

“You’d better go. Meet me in the Entrance Hall before breakfast.” Anais nodded and followed her house mates.

“Anais, hurry up!” called Hermione, as Anais glances back at Draco, who had rejoined with the Slytherins. Anais walked up the familiar stairs with Hermione, Harry, and Ron. She pretended to be amazed by everything, but since she had been here only a few days earlier, she wasn’t as thrilled as everyone else. Though she hadn’t seen the Fat Lady yet. To her surprise the Fat Lady turned out to be a painting. Percy told her the password and the hinges to the portrait flew open.

As Everyone pile into the common room, Percy was yelling to get their attention, The boys dormitory is upstairs and to the left, girls same on your right. All of your belongs have already been brought up.”

While the students raced up the stairs, Anais look a closer look at the common room.

“Why were you talking to that Slytherin guy?” asked George. He and Fred has also stayed behind.

“Draco? He’s my friend. Why?”

“He’s a Slytherin. Just so you know Griffindors and Slytherins don’t send time with each other. We don’t get along to well.”

Anais glared at him, “Well that’s your opinion.” she ran upstairs not wanting to talk with them anymore.

“Anais, in here.” it wad Hermione. Hermione pointed to the bed beside her. Anais’s thing were at the foot of the bed. She just realized how extremely tired she was, pulling out her night gown, Hermione introduced her to Parvati Patil and Lavender Brown, who shared the room with them.

“Don’t listen to those Weasley twins. You can talk with whoever you want and it can’t change anything.” said Parvati.

“Thanks.” absent mindedly Anais pulled her hair back behind her ears.

“Hey, your ears,” said Lavender, “they’re pointed!”

Anais panicked. Dumbledore had warned her.
