A New Fellowship Chapter 9

by Mar 11, 2009Stories

When they stopped for the night Araogorn, after he hides the boats, he sees Mara sitting on Legolas’s lap holding his face in her hands and kissing him.

“He can do that, but I could not. Why?” Boromir asks Aragorn.

“She is love with him, and I know WAY better than to mess with my sister when she is in love. And if you have any desire to live, you will not mess with her either,” Aragorn says rubbing his arm, remembering one time when Mara had a crush on Elrohir and he had interfered.

Suddenly sensing something is wrong Mara breaks the kiss and asks; “Where is Frodo? And Boromir? AND MY BROTHER?”

Soon Mara, Legolas, and Gimli find Aragorn fighting like a zillion Uruk-Hai.

“I have you back!” Mara screams to Aragorn. “The horn of Gondor!”

When Mara, Legolas, and Gimli arrive they hear Boromir say: “Forgive me. I did not see it. I have failed you all.”

“No Boromir. You fought bravely. You have kept your honor,” Aragorn says as he tries to take out one of the arrows.

“It is over. Leave it,” Bormir says. “The world of men will fail. And all will become darkness. And my city to ruin.”

“I do not know what strength is in my blood, but I promise you I will not let the white city fall. Nor our people fail,” Aragorn says.

“Our people, our people. I would have followed you my brother. My captain. My king,” Boromir says taking his last breath.

“Be at peace son of Gondor, be at peace,” Aragorn says.

“They will look for his coming from the White Tower. But he will not be returning,” Mara says taking ahold of Legolas’s hand.

“Hurry they have reached the Eastern shore,” Legolas says breaking the sad silence. “You mean not to follow them.”

“Their fate is no longer in our hands,” Aragorn says.

“The Fellowship has failed. All was in vain,” Gimli says sadly.

“Not if we hold true to each other. We will not leave Merry and Pippin to torment and death. Not while we have strength left,” Aragorn says sounding so much like a king Mara bows to him. “Let’s hunt some orc.”
