Their Finest Hour – Return of the King Review

To me this was the finest movie of the trilogy, though they are all very close. I really feel that ROTK is the best film I have ever seen. The emotional depth is just amazing. So many of the characters make a deep impact on me, but I most admire Aragorn, Sam and Frodo. Though I much admire the noble qualities of these three, Eowyn would be the character I most identify with–her longing for something beyond the ordinary and commonplace experiences of everyday life is very easy to relate to. So is the sadness she feels at some of the circumstances of her life and her sorrow at the dark days in which she lives. I found myself longing to see happiness come to her, and my only complaint against the movie would be that we do not get to see Eowyn and Faramir, two characters whose lives contain so many tragic and heartbreaking experiences, finally find joy in one another. Nevertheless, each time I see ROTK, I just can’t wait to see it again. To see characters with such noble, selfless and courageous hearts always makes me feel encouraged!
