The Hidden Message – Something we all should listen to

by Dec 25, 2003Reviews

I went to watch Lord of the Ring: The Return of the King a few days ago. I was a huge fan of the books before the films, and generally knew what to expect fom this film after watching the previous two also. What I was not prepared for was that this film was put onto a higer level than the other two. The emotion brimmed over into the audience, and most of the time I found myself wanting to scream at the actors to do something, or for Fodo to get up. I must say, it was the best film i have ever seen.

It wasnt until I reached the end of the film was I really hit by it all. Really, Aragorn was to blame. He had an amazing speech after he was crowned. He said

‘We should all work together to rebuild our earth.”

Now, I suddenly thought, wait? Who is he saying this too? I had watched and read along with Aragorn’s charector, i knew he was a good man, wanting to rid the world of badness. He geniuenly meant his message. And I knew, although Aragorn is a fictional charector (sorry to wake you guys up! lol) and he lives in a world different to us, his message is universal, or even bigger. His message was from another world, yet it had significance. Aragorn, Peter Jackson, and even the man himself Tolkien, had all meant fo us to hear the words of good, coming from a good mans heart, telling us that THIS, making the world a better place for our children, and their childrens children, by working together.

Not by blowing each other up, just for some land that no one can remember who’s it is, saying you are helping a friend, when you plan to blind them with “kindness” and rob them while they carnt see. I really do say sorry, for a feel strongly about the worlds news today, and I must say, I probably am opinionated. But if you do sit back and think, we shouldnt strive for ourselves, we are not a pack of animals (or orcs) that need power and land, or the way that people are carring on today, that is what we are all turning into. A mindless rablle of orcs. I am not impling that I believe that fighting for justice isnt right, but most wars are not for this purpose. Read up on them and you will find out. Wars like WW2 had to be fought. The allies fought for what was right. To stop the threat of invasion. But not all wars have to be physical. Fighting for what you believe in, and for what is right through any form of negation will take you on you way to being part of something more magnificant than power.

I do pledge my case again. I want anyone to take heed, that the world isnt better if your flag flys on it, or it doesnt matter if you dont hold ‘a ring of’ power, what matters is the peace, and love that we should treat all people with and the earth. I know there will be the weak minded who will be corrupted by power, but in this world, I know I am going to live by the words of ‘working together’ to try and rebuild the land devisated by hatred.

“I see in your eyes the same fear
that would take the heart of me.
A day may come when the courage of men fails,
when we forsake our friends
and break all bonds of fellowship.
But it is not this day.
This day we fight!” –RotK
