Young Queen – A Poem

by Mar 8, 2003Poetry

Why, young Queen, in these halls do thee stay
To linger in the fading light within the fading day?
When choice, as is known doth stand alone,
In this world, beyond thy home?
And in the deepness of the night
Thy dream hath fallen, died;
And to the pity of the night thee hath cried,
And thee long to see thy dreams as new as when they were told;
The stars hath died, and thee are old.
