Yearning from Afar

by May 17, 2006Poetry

A thousand years
It has been,
A thousand more shall come.
I know this in my heart of hearts
Which beats on as a drum.

Though ever now
I yearn for thee
I know you be still there,
And that one thing alone in me
Has saved me from dispair.

I see the stars,
And then I think
About how nevermore
By boat or foot or elvish vice
I will come to your shore.

And by day
I keep this shack,
A hovel by the sea,
Awaiting the white golden ship
That brings you back to me.

And then by night
I see the stars,
And think how nevermore
By boat or foot or elvish vice
I will come to your shore.
