Waves – A Song

by Dec 12, 2003Poetry

Another one of my songs that is not overtly LotR but certainly LotR in its inspiration (I suppose a couple lines give away who this song is speaking of… *g*)

Waves

She had a harder life than most
Bereft of the love she desired
Falling to the lowest of the low
She was battered by the wind and the fire
And crumbling in this painful pressure
She began to give in to despair
Losing sight of the treasure of life
Seeing nothing left there

Two stones tossed by the same sea
Two lives assailed by pain
Each came out of it differently
One held strong, and the other gave in
We can let the storms break us
Or let the trials make us
It’s all a matter of faith
Which way will we go in the end?

He ached for a father’s acceptance
Though hardly a scrap was given
There were nights spent in the darkness
Pondering the value of living
But instead of cowering in defeat
He rose to combat the pain
And while it still beat against him
He let it shape him another way

Two stones tossed by the same sea
Two lives assailed by pain
Each came out of it differently
One held strong, and the other gave in
We can let the storms break us
Or let the trials make us
It’s all a matter of faith
Which way will we go in the end?

Two stones tossed by the same sea
Two lives assailed by pain
One smoothed out beautifully
One beginning to break in the waves
Can we find the strength
To ride the waves
And let them shape us?
Or must we crumble too?
Can we keep sight of You?
Which way will we go in the end?
