This is a Song for Them All to Sing – A funeral song for a Hobbit of great import

by Dec 24, 2003Poetry

This is a song for them all to sing,
A few words strung together with rhyme,
A rhyme threaded with notes and a fling,
A voice to keep it in time.

This is a song for them all to sing,
Of love and the good that is life ,
Of the tingle a beloved’s touch will bring.
Of the fun that certainly is nigh.

This is a song for them all to sing,
When time grows short and tough,
When youth can feel age’s biting sting,
Yet all is well and the world is our cream puff.

This is a song for them all to sing,
The tempo is slower than before,
The words are sad and of suffering,
They speak of a closing door.

This is a song for them all to sing,
Of memory and life long lived,
Of being ready when the last bells ring,
Of knowing your life song was ad libbed
