Their Legend Will Live On

by Jun 24, 2002Poetry

A time lost from memory
Yet remembered in a dream
Told in nature’s scars
So hark the eagles scream

Each flower that blooms
To greet the light of day
Can tell us the story
Of those who passed away

The mountain stands cold
Once where hammers rung
The forest stands silent
Once where songs were sung

The caves are full
By none who draw breath
Yet the gold still glitters
In cold mockery of death

The forests are full
But still they stand forlorn
The trees and animals cry
It’s for the elves they mourn

The dwarves are no more
The elves they are gone
Yet still we remember them
Their legend will live on
