The world of Tolkien

by Oct 5, 2004Poetry

I could have been a hero,
With a mighty sword of flame,
A shirt of shining mail
And a banner with my name;

I could have been a poet,
A master with the pen,
Have minstrels sing my culture-
Take me there and back again;

I could have been a rich man,
Carry mithril and gold,
And jewels to horde a-plenty
So beautiful and cold.

I could have seen the whole world,
The mountains and the sea,
I could have traveled hither,
And be who I should be;

I could have set the world right,
But just in my own way;
He takes me on a journey;
Long live his words I say.
