The Trouble with Lembas

by Dec 2, 2004Poetry

In the boat that would take us across the river to shore.
In packets I found Lembas galore!
To me they looked like bread shaped in a square
But even more they looked tasty and very rare.
Once I ate a piece of honey-dipped bread
I knew that for then I was well fed.
But I loved the taste and I wanted more
And I loved it so much that I ate four.
Soon Legolas explained that you needed only a bite
And all of a sudden I didn’t feel right.
Lembas, Lembas, bread of the shore.
And something, I swear that I will eat of no more.
