The tears of the night

by Jul 27, 2003Poetry

Where now do thy stars bright shine?
Under winters grey,
Yet past the sun,
And passed the moon,
The night receeds to day.

Where now the mere and the tall tree?
Upon the fallow path,
Atop the world,
Below the sky,
Where little children laugh.

Where now the King and loved one?
In halls beyond the night,
Beyond the stars,
Beyond the life,
Beyond the chill of frozen light.

Where now thy lament for thy love?
Where now thy mourning pain?
Where now the tears to starless night,
What now thy mortal gain?
