The Ring of Power – A poem of Frodo’s torment in being the Ring-bearer

by Mar 25, 2002Poetry

I feel it hanging on my neck
its cold surface against my breast
For days so long it haunted my paths
and terrorized me when I rest

It drove my mind to endless evil
seizing my will into two
One side as a hideous devil
The other righteous and brave

They tormented me as they crossed my mind
but gradually I was overpowered-
under its power my sense went blind
as slave of the ring of power

I could bear it no longer
my will has begin to fade
Where should I find comfort
Out of this pit of wrath?
