The Riddle of Strider in Sindarin

by Feb 3, 2004Poetry

Deep apologies–I could find words for neither “riddle” nor “Strider”; if I knew more about root derivation I could, perhaps reconstruct a Sindarin form of Telcontar, but I really don’t want to go there and make palpable mistakes.

All that is gold does not glitter
Not all those who wander are lost
The old that is strong does not wither
Deep roots are not reached by the frost
From the ashes a fire shall be woken
A light from the shadows shall spring
Renewed shall be blade that was broken
The crownless again shall be king

Calad e-dúath tuiatha
Adwinia natha hathel ristannen
