The plight of a hobbit

by Aug 5, 2003Poetry

For every step I take
My burden grows,
A mass of toil and pain,
Things that never matter to me
Are all that I now see.

Why do I have to carry this,
I never wanted to save the world,
But now I’m stuck,
In the wilderness,
With others, but I am alone.

My mind is now distracted,
And the sun just brings pain to my eyes,
And I see not the past,
Or the future,
For everything lives and then dies.
