The Passing of the Elves – Leaving Middle-Earth forever

by Mar 11, 2003Poetry

The ages of the Elves have passed,
Faded away to nothingness.
Swift, bright, as if a falling star.
The star is gone. Fallen they are.
Ne’er to return from o’er the Sea,
They are but wraiths of memory.
To haunt forever wrongs of men
That made their wars on tree and fen
While they, unnoticed, passed away,
As their lands faded with the day.
Forever leaving Middle-earth
Before their greif could be made worse
By loss and battle and the shame
That they have faced ere evil came.
