The Grave

by Jun 9, 2004Poetry

I stand beside your grave
I remember all the times we had together.
The first time I met you
The first time we kissed.
The day we were married.
The look on you face
as you give your consent
to be my husband
Full of joy to be bound to me.
I remember that day
That the messenger came
Bearing news of your death
On the battlefield
And the feeling of my pain
As I realize you’re gone
And you will never
come back home to me.
