Thank you Prof. Tolkien – A small, clumsy and humble ‘thank you’ to Prof. Tolkien.

by Feb 13, 2004Poetry

The land upon I walk with you
The sites and sounds I learned by you
The friendly people of distant lands
And ancient beasts with bloody hands,
You showed everything to me
A different realm for me to dream
Where good and evil are always pure
And where life choices are always true,
Where people say what is they think,
Without hiding their true hearts
In empty words and pointless acts,
Although I may never meet you now
I’ll bear in mind your written vow
The one you gave to us all
And thoughts we’ve never seen before
To read and hope of a better world
As the one you’ve found in a hobbit’s hole.
