Sorrow of a child – for the elves have left

by Apr 21, 2003Poetry

Why do thee weep? The stars
Do not fall from this sky,
The sea does not drown our land,

The rain does not fall.
Child, let no anguish seek thee,
For the land does not quake,

The forest does not burn,
The crop is not wasted.
Please, do not cry. The sun

It still does shine,
And the moon does smile;
Yet the last ship has sailed

And the last elves are passed.
But in thy dreams they shall wander,
Beyond the mortal calls

Of thee, child.
So the elves have not left thee,
Nor abondoned this day,

For in thy dreams
Their museing music
It shall play.
