Sons of Denethor

Sons of Denethor

Son of your father’s love
Son of your mother’s blood
both bound by loyalty
to the flag bearing the White Tree

What will be your quality
when the shadows come to hew at that tree?
Who cries will you heed
the steward’s decree
or the wizard’s pled?
Where will your honor lie
when your father’s heart is cold and you brother dies?
How will you stand
when the Ring comes near your hand
or when your King reclaims his lands?

Why? Boromir, captain, companion, among the slain
Why? Faramir, healer, hunter, father’s bane
will you feel the pain of an arrow in your chest?
