My story is over
The last pages have turned, and are done
Do not cry for me
As I sail away on these ships of grey

I leave you now
But the memories will not die as I leave
Think on them with joy
As I sail away on these ships of grey

The quest is finished
Something in me is aching for rest
I cannot stay with you
I must sail away on these ships of grey

The Shire is lost to me
But there is still room for the three of you
Do not weep for me, friends
As I sail away on these ships of grey

Let go of me now
But hold on to the times we’ve shared
Friendship doesn’t have to die
Even as I sail away on these ships of grey

My joy is not here
Nor is my life a part of yours anymore
I don’t want you to cry
As I sail away on these ships of grey

Stop holding on to me
I must go because it is my time to leave
My heart is at peace
Because I am sailing away on these ships of grey

“Then Frodo kissed Merry and Pippin, and last of all Sam, and went aboard; and the sails were drawn up, and the wind blew, and slowly the ship slipped away down the long, grey firth; and the light of the glass of Galadriel that Frodo bore glimmered and was lost. And the ship went out into the High Sea and passed on into the West, until at last on a night of rain Frodo smelled a sweet fragrance on the air and heard the sound of singing that came over the water. And then it seemed to him that as in his dream in the house of Bombadil, the grey rain-curtain turned all to silver glass and was rolled back, and he beheld white shores and beyond them a far green country under a swift sunrise.” Taken from the Return of the King, by J.R.R. Tolkien
