Do not weep,
The summer pass’d,
The spring time too,
And now, at last
The blanket of the winter’s cold
Covers all, the world so old.

Do not cry,
The autumn went,
Th harvest brought,
The sun’s light spent;
The naked glory of the trees
And mounful echo of the seas.

Do not smile
In this grim light,
‘Tis not thy winter,
Nor thy night,
‘Tis not the time for thee to sleep,
Do not listen, do not weep.
