Resolution – Frodo at Amon Hen

by Apr 1, 2004Poetry

He walks alone among the trees,
Anxious friends wait on the shore.
An arduous choice he has to make.
He knows of course, he’s always known
The grim path he must take.

Possessing every silent thought,
This heavy burden on his mind.
Where now do I go from here?
He knows of course, he’s always known,
His chosen purpose sorely clear.

Aimlessly he wanders on,
Heedless of the cheerful birds;
How can he ask his friends to come?
He knows of course, he’s always known,
To go alone he will succumb.

Why did it come to me, he cries.
Closing eyes in deep despair,
As gray clouds steal the warming sun;
He does not know, he’ll never know,
But he won’t leave his task undone.

He walks alone among the trees,
Anxious friends wait on the shore.
An arduous choice he has to make.
He knows of course, he’s always known,
The road to Mordor he will take.
