Ancient Irish hymn
Translated by Mary Byrnes, versified by Eleanor Hull

No Le Cened nîn A Hîr o gûr nîn
Unad pân nâ an nin dan Le nâ
Le nauth vaewain nîn na aur egor fuin
Echuiol egor lostol sinaed Lín calad nîn

Be Thou my Vision O Lord of my heart
Nought be all else to me save that Thou art
Thou my best thought by day or by night
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light

No Le Saelod nîn a Le Pêth ‘lenin nîn
Im go uir Le a Le go nin Hîr
Le Adar dhaer nîn ah im iôn ‘lenin Lín
Le nêd nin dorthol ah im go Le mîn

Be Thou my Wisdom and Thou my true Word
I ever with Thee and Thou with me Lord
Thou my great Father and I thy true son
Thou in me dwelling and I with Thee one

Hairm cenich egor egleriad lost edainen
Le hilannad nîn si a pállui
Le a Le eriol minui nêd gûr nîn
Ar Aran o Menel, harm nîn naich

Riches I heed not nor man’s empty praise
Thou mine inheritance now and always
Thou and Thou only first in my heart
High King of Heaven my treasure Thou art

Ar Aran o Menel, tûr nîn orthorn
Hirithach glais Menel, Anar Menel celair aen
Gûr o gûr nîn pámman tûl
An si nâ Cened nîn, A Hîr o Pân

High King of Heaven, my victory won
May I reach Heaven’s joys, bright Heaven’s sun
Heart of my own heart whatever befall
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of All
