Nainë Edhellen – The Lament of an Elf Left Behind

by Jan 22, 2005Poetry

I am called home, but cannot answer.
The white gulls call to me, but I cannot sail.
There is no ship left here to bear me home.
I long to return, but I have been left behind.
The Sea is calling, calling, calling.
I kneel at the Mithlond and weep, for it is empty.
There are no ships, no Elves, no songs.
They all have departed, long ago.
None now remain.
I am alone now.
