I have seen – what few dream of

by Apr 7, 2004Poetry

I have seen what few only dream of.
I am so small in this wide, wide world
in the midst of the battle when I should be at home
And yet I was chosen to fulfill this task
no hiding, no deriving behind the mask
I have to go forth, to save this middle-earth
No darkness shall take me, I shall conquer my fears
But in truth, I am my own enemy
When this is all over perhaps I shall be free
with my faithful friend beside me I shall march on
till darkness and shadow is passed and gone
to Mordor I go, to destroy Isildur’s bane,
This I do not attempt in vain.
For faithless is he who falters when the road darkens.
I have seen what few only dream of.
