Hope – Hope

by Sep 16, 2003Poetry

The light of Earendil has faded,
Everything is dark,
The trees of Lorien have fallen,
All hope is gone.

My people have all left,
In search of warmth and life,
In search of hope that cannot be found,
All hope is lost.

Only I am here,
No loyal friend to guide me,
No enemy to turn me down,
all hope has died.

The great cities have crumbled,
No bird sings, no flower blooms,
The streams have all run dry,
All hope has vanished.

Yet somewhere deep inside me,
A little spot, invisible to the evil eye,
Flickering like a tiny flame,
Hope remains.
