Galadriel’s words to the evenstar – Fate

by May 28, 2003Poetry

Evenstar, should ye be lost,
And wither so this day,
For thy light should never frost,
And be as saddened lay.

‘Tis thy fate, yet I fear this so
That thy star should wan,
And thy life, so long ago
Should drown in world of man.

Rather than thy heart to please
I beg thee to relent,
I would see thee sail the seas,
In Valinor thy life spent.

Yet as the sun doth fade to night
Linger does not love,
And so I fear thy elven light
Is placed in hands above.
