forbidden love – Between a mortal and an elf

by May 2, 2003Poetry

“Pray, let naught touch thy skin
So as to marr it with grief,
For I would not see it so.”

~::~

“Then why, my Lord, will thee not stay?
‘Tis still the night, and ere the day
You may depart, and leave me weep,
Please do stay for all doth sleep.”

“Thine eyes do hold my life for me
Yet never would I wish to be thy death.
So I must ride, My Love, My Friend,
To help my kin, my lands defend.”

and the lord Aragorn then melted into the new night, and the Lady Arwen wept unto the stars, as her father watched their departure, unable to comfort the grief of this forbidden love.
