Denethor’s Pity – The one who lost all hope

by Apr 8, 2003Poetry

What was thy dream but sadness
What was thy hope but gain?
Hath thee not seen the madness
Bought of mortal pain?

What was thy aim but beauty
What was thy goal but rash?
Did thou see thy duty;
The swords of war doth clash.

What now thy dream but fire?
What now thy ruined hope?
What was thy lost desire
As the flames they do dance higher
Among the risen fire
For thy dream hath turned to fire
In this tomb.
