Son of Kings, I’ll bind myself to thee
By thy side is where I’ll always be
Through darkness and danger we have come
For you I left the land I called home
From Doriath in beauty and light
To Morgoth’s throne, braving evil’s might
The great jewel was set in Shadow’s crown
Yet song’s power brought the Dark Lord down
And as Angband’s horde dreamed in their sleep
Silmaril in hand, we fled from the Deep
Jewel and hand taken by the Red Maw
Thingol was shamed by the strength he saw
In the Hunting of the Wolf thou didst ride
But a dark forboding my heart cried
The Silmaril was bought at great cost
By protecting my kin, thou wast lost
Dying there, thou laid aside the Quest
Leaving to go where late spirits rest
In Mandos’ Halls I bade thee to wait
Through song I was brought to Manwe great
Here I am given a choice to make
To leave thee, or as a mortal wake
The choice was made afore in my heart
From thee, my love, I could never part
Son of Kings, I’ll bind myself to thee
By thy side is where I’ll always be
