Arwen’s Reason

by Nov 25, 2004Poetry

Elrond had long pondered
his daughter’s chosen plan.
When she could live forever
why choose this mortal man?

After loosing friends and family,
he wished to keep her near
The father could not let this girl
from his side dissapear.

“Dearest Arwen, why do you persist
in choosing mortal life?
Come, live with me, spend eternity
away from death, tears or strife.”

She whispered softly a simple reply
Those sea grey eyes were clear of tears
The answer would haunt her fathers life
for the rest of his years.

“Eternity.” Came the clear voice,
riding on one passionate breath
“What is the point of living forever
If you spend it alone? I choose death.”
