Aragorn’s Choice

by May 7, 2004Poetry

her hair like the feather of a raven
her eyes like the clouded dawn
her skin like the purest of silk
her lips as red as the rose

her hair like the golden sun
her eyes like the beauty of the night
her skin as fair as the moon
and her lips as pink as the dawn

but which to choose
the son of the king cannot decide
her love should lie with the woman
but the elf has captured his heart

to choose the dark beauty would mean
having her seemingly forever young
as his body ages
and creeps ever closer to death

and the Lady of Rohan
with whom he has so much in common
would die before him, for he has the gift
of longer life
