A Warriors Prayer – Into the West

by Mar 20, 2005Poetry

I saw my friend lay down to die
the grief flowed from his crimson lips
he looked at me through wounded eyes
and from his lips came this prayer

Eru!, Oh Illuvatar!
Take into the west
were this mortal body
may find eternal rest

My last breath is falling
As I lay my head
My lord Isildur has fallen
and me not in his stead

My loving wife and precocious child
can find me still
In the land of dream
Where mortal breath
and Godly will,

Is where I lay my head
