A RIDDLE – guess if you dare

by Nov 25, 2004Poetry

wise as olorin
graceful as fawn
awake through the night
until break of dawn

rides gracefully
his keen eyes do see
dinner on the hilltop
which fills him with glee

going down he unsheaths his knives
to slay the food at the unawares
the meal never had
an answer to prayers

the home of our subject
is surounded by wood
and once you are in you do
what he says you should

he watches silently
knows where you are
even in the dead of night
he is not far
