A Light in the Darkness – A poem by Laura Legg

by Sep 5, 2002Poetry

It’s dark as death I cannot see
My heart is black for he is gone
I can’t go back and can’t go on.

It’s like our dream is gone it seems
The Ring we can’t destroy, it’s going to end and now I see we can’t do anything more.

But wait what’s this? I see the end of our trials sore.
It is a light, a wondrous light, and will be ever more.
A breath of air, a sigh I hear, in Shelob’s giant lair.
He is awake and now we take the Ring away from here.
