A Goblin’s Song – A poem written by Bilbo Baggins of his memories of the Quest for Erebor during his residence at Rivendell

Off we go to hunt some man,
Or beef of pork or horse or lamb.
Smash, gnash, toil and thrash!
Squish and trample all in your path,
A trail of smok’ll show our wrath.
Smash, gnash, toil and thrash!
We hunt fresh meat for us to eat-
Smoked man today, scorched by the heat.
Smash, gnash, toil and thrash!
We prefer children to the old,
They’re nice and tender, not cold with mould!
Smash, gnash, toil and thrash!
As little goblin children, we were raised
To crave bloodshed, and death we praised.
Smash, gnash, toil and thrash!
All should flee, for goblins come,
No spear can stop us, no sword, no gun.
Smash, gnash, toil and thrash!
A Hell on Earth is dangerously near,
`Cause Bolg and Shagrat and Morgul are here!
Smash, gnash, toil and thrash!
So many come to this horrible fate,
Ho! Ho! Ho! There’s no escape!
Smash, gnash, toil and thrash!
“Why this massacre?” you ask, I’ll tell you why!
We goblins like it when people die.
Smash, gnash, toil and thrash!
So onward we march, as hearts fill with dread,
We’ve slaughtered so many the rivers run red
Smash, gnash toil and thrash!
Our consciences shriveled and our hearts black
If I were you I’d watch my back!
Smash, gnash, toil and thrash!
