For our fiftieth caption contest, I wanted a special picture. I had quite a few I could have used. In the end, I decided to go with the two people on whom all our hope rests: Frodo and Sam, two little hobbits wandering in the wilderness.
And I wanted a HAPPY picture! Because even though quests get tough, and your best friends attack you with knives, and blind nazgul drop out of the sky and scare you half to death, you can still be HAPPY.
So here is a HAPPY Frodo and Sam picture.
I don’t know if I’ve ever seen anyone as happy about…er… what are they happy about? And what does that thing have to do with the quest?
Think of a humorous caption for this image, and post it in the comments section of THIS page. You can click on the thumbnail to see a larger image, but be sure to return to THIS page BEFORE posting your comment!
As always, the only prize is the “satisfaction of a job well done.”
Remember, Tolkien Online is a “family friendly site” so please keep all captions clean.
Last week’s winner was BuccaoftheMarsh with “Frodo knew not the penalty for public urination until it was too late.” We had some good runners up, too! To see those, and other past contests, click the ‘caption contest’ link near the top of this page.
This week’s winner was NS Exile with “Okay Sam, one more game of ‘Hungry Hungry Hippos’ but then I REALLY need to get to the council meeting.”
Close runner up was Eltirwen with “Mr. Frodo, Gandalf said not to feed the ring after midnight! Now look what you’ve done!”
Other top captions:
“They didn’t have little gnomes, Mr. Frodo, but this was on sale! “
“At long last, Frodo and Sam had finished their extra-dimensional Nazgûl trap.”
“And that is the less heroic, more hobbit-ish origin of the ballad of frodo 9-fingers… never trust your history book, even if Bilbo baggins wrote it…”
“Yes, Mr. Frodo, this is the One-Ring-destroying device… but it’s out of service.”
