The legendary British actor Christopher Lee, known from leading parts like Dracula (Hammer Productions), The Man with the Golden Gun (James Bond), Saruman (Peter Jacksons The Lord of the Rings trilogi) and Count Dooku (George Lucas Star Wars) has a leading part on At Dawn in Rivendell both reciting poems and singing the character of Treebeard(!).

Apart from Christopher Lee over 50 professional singers and musicians take part in this tribute to Tolkiens masterpiece The Lord of the Rings among them soloists Morten Ernst Lassen, Tom McEwan and Kurt Ravn and Chamber Choir Cammerata and Copenhagen Young Strings conducted by the talented Danish conductor Morten Ryelund.

The 11th of March 2003 will be a very special day for The Tolkien Ensemble: the release date of At Dawn in Rivendell in U.S.A.! Universal America has great expectations with regard to the release as well as Universal Australia, who made an ongoing airplay deal with radio station ABC.

The Tolkien Ensemble was formed in 1995 by composer and guitarist Caspar Reiff with the purpose of creating the first complete musical interpretation of the poems from The Lord of the Rings. In 1996 he received permission from The Tolkien Estate and HarperCollins Publishers to pursue this goal and the first album An Evening in Rivendell was released in 1997 followed in 2000 by the album A Night in Rivendell.

The music to Tolkien’s poems is composed by Caspar Reiff in cooperation with the composer Peter Hall.

“I am very happy to have reached this level with my project. Eventhough it has been a long journey already, it feels like the adventure is just about to begin…”, says Caspar Reiff, and continues: “It gives me great pleasure and satisfaction to see and know that a lot of people, a lot of young people too, likes our music and interpretations of Tolkiens wonderful poems.”
