The city is one of 30 worldwide hosting a 3D graphics roadshow on December 3, with Wellington’s event featuring speakers from Peter Jackson’s Weta Digital.
Silicon Graphics visualisation software subsidiary Alias wavefront, based in California, is running the day, which includes presentations by animators from Peter Jackson’s graphics company Weta Digital.
Randall William Cook, Weta’s director of animation, and Adam Valdez, animation supervisor, will talk about some of the steps involved in making computer animation for The Lord of the Rings and share a glimpse of what it is like behind the scenes. Alias wavefront founder Mark Sylvester will open the event, which is being held at the Chicago Sports Cafe on Queens Wharf and is open to anyone interested in computer graphics.
