The Otago Daily Times reports that the Lord of the Rings staff put on a large street party in Clyde, a town located in the Central Otago region, on Saturday night.

About 250 cast and crew members rocked to two bands and a DJ until 9.30am yesterday and fireworks lit the night sky to celebrate the end of filming work at Poolburn Dam, 40km east of Alexandra, and the first birthday of the crew’s second unit.

[A “second unit” is a small film crew responsible for filming scenes not requiring dialogue to be performed by the cast members, such as crowd scenes, stunt scenes, battle scenes involving extras or stand-ins, scenery, etc.]
