It’s confirmed: Andrew Adamson will indeed be filming the first Chronicles of Narnia film in his New Zealand. Word has come through Mukmouth that a decision to film The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe in New Zealand has officially been made. It’s not clear yet how much use the crew will be making of the same beautiful terrain that stood in for Middle-earth in The Lord of the Rings. The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe will, however, be making use of the same effects talent and expertise that went into Tolkien’s epic: Peter Jackson’s WETA, which is also conveniently located in New Zealand. No cast have been named yet for the adaptation of C. S. Lewis’s popular children’s novel. The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe is expected in theaters sometime in 2005.
Peter Jackson sat down for a small featurette to discuss taking The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit into 4k.
