The runaway success of The Lord of the Rings movie trilogy may be followed by a screen version of JRR Tolkien’s original work, The Hobbit, although it would be a few years away. Mark Ordesky, the Rings executive producer, made clear his New Line Cinema company had not finished with the world of Middle Earth following the completion of The Return of the King, the final movie in The Lord of the Rings trilogy. “There could be a movie about The Hobbit,” Ordesky told a press conference hours before the world premiere of The Return of the King. Peter Jackson, the acclaimed director who spent four years putting The Lord of the Rings series together, expressed willingness to translate one more Tolkien work into film but said it would have to wait until after his next project, a remake of King Kong.
Peter Jackson sat down for a small featurette to discuss taking The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit into 4k.
